Being a girl, I truly love shiny things. Anything that glitters and shimmers gets my attention. So of course, I would find a way to make decorating pumpkins for the season glitter. Although, not a fan of Halloween, but there are still ways to enjoy the holiday and have something to last beyond the hallows eve.
Some decor I saw at a major chain store sparked a quest for me to find a way to make a glittered fall delight myself at home. I found the tools at the craft store and realized this is a harmless process for those who may not be that craft savvy.
Take a medium-size paintbrush to spread a layer of white glue over the surface of a small pumpkin. Hold pumpkin over a paper plate or a sheet of newspaper to catch excess glitter. Sprinkle powder glitter over pumpkin in several colors (try some fall inspired colors like copper, persimmon, orange, and pink champagne), covering completely. Let dry for about one hour; shake off excess glitter. Coat stem with brown acrylic paint; let dry. Pumpkins will keep for months.
You can get all the supplies you need from a craft store for a reasonable price. I found the items at Michael’s. Just a note, these not only outlast the Halloween festivities, they also outlast the carved creations. Enjoy the glittery fun and indulge in a little sophisticated fall decorations. I hope you share this with your friends and family and neighbors. It’s a simple way to spruce up the porch or coffee table. Enjoy!
